RECRUITING: Louisiana DE does it all

Louisiana defensive end Kirston Pittman still setting up visits

Kirston is a man among boys on the high school level and the college coaches have taken notice. A three-year starter at defensive end, Pittman has exploded this year averaging over 13 tackles a game with ten sacks through eight games. Pittman has also intercepted two passes, taking one 65 yards for a score while playing free safety.

"I played free safety for three games early this season," said Pittman. "We just needed some help in the secondary and we had a few more players who could play defensive end or linebacker, so I went back to free safety. It was OK, but I like defensive end a lot better."

Pittman also has recovered one fumble off a punt block and returned it for a touchdown. Pittman can bench 335 pounds, squat 425 and he worked hard in the weight room this past summer.

Pittman has yet to take any visits, but says he is looking at Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Florida, Florida State, Miami, Texas, Michigan, LSU, Alabama, Oregon, UCLA, Washington and Washington State.

"I am just trying to keep my options open right now," said Pittman. "I hear from Miami, Texas, Florida, Florida State, Oklahoma, Michigan and Alabama the most."

"Oklahoma is a great school and team with a great coaching staff. They are obviously a great team as you can tell by their ranking and how they doing in the polls. I also think I could play early at defensive end at Oklahoma. There is a good possibility that I will visit OU."

"I used to love Florida in the 90s when my brother (Thomas) went there," Pittman continued. "That won't affect my decision, but Florida was a team I followed growing up. I have set up two visits in January as I am going to Florida State (1-10) and Miami (1-24). I am working to set up the other three visits, but I don't have dates at this time. Oklahoma is one of the schools that I am trying to set a visit."
