Davis Set for OU Trip?

Despite a serious injury during his junior season, Fort bend Marshall running back Knile Davis is one of the most sought after athletes for the Class of 2009. With offers in hand, Davis is still making his rounds this off-season. And Oklahoma is next on the list…

This off-season, recruiting for Fort Bend (TX) Marshall running back Knile Davis has gone quite well. Many of the top programs across the country have put their names in the hat in hopes of getting a commitment out of him.

The 6-foot-0, 210-pound Davis has already been to a few colleges on visits and has another one planned this weekend to Norman, Oklahoma.

"I am supposed to go to Oklahoma this weekend," Davis said. "I'm not 100 percent sure I can make it, but it is a good possibility."

The Sooners is one of 11 offers that Davis holds at the moment. Missouri, TCU, Central Florida, Texas A&M, Kansas State, Houston, Mississippi State, Baylor, and Northwestern are the others schools that have offered.

The last offer came during the interview.

"I just opened an offer from Arizona just as you called," Davis said.

Davis was quick to say that there are no leaders as of right now. But with the Oklahoma visit being the next one on the list, Davis spoke briefly on the Sooner program as a whole.

"I'm excited about making the trip and I think highly of the program," Davis said of Oklahoma. "They are one of the best programs in college football. I have been talking to coach (Cale) Gandy and he told me I would enjoy myself so I'll take his word for it."

In three games as a junior (because of a collarbone injury), Davis rushed for 420 yards and three touchdowns.
