Sooner or Later?

South Grand Prairie is loaded with talent and Oklahoma has been in contact with a number of their top players. Thomas Ferguson is a hard hitting safety that already has an offer from the Orange Bowl Champion Kansas Jayhawks, but an offer from the Sooners would vault them to the top of his list.

He has already attended junior day in Norman, but South Grand Prairie (TX) strong safety Thomas Ferguson plans to head Oklahoma again this approaching weekend in hopes of receiving the good news.

"Oklahoma coaches have seen my film and they like my aggressiveness," Ferguson said at the UA/ combine. They actually want me to come down there next week so hopefully they will offer so we can get the deal going. I feel like I am the missing puzzle piece for them."

In an earlier interview, the 6-foot-1, 200-pound Ferguson expressed his interest in the Sooner program and it seems that nothing has changed.

"Oklahoma is still my favorite," Ferguson said. "It's nice down there and I really feel like I bond with the coaches and the team. I talk with coach (Brent) Venables quite a bit."

But Oklahoma is not the only school that is in pursuit of the Texas defender. Texas Tech, Texas A&M, Auburn, OSU are just a few other schools that have made contact with Ferguson in hopes of him showing up on campus in the fall of 2009.

And for the moment, Ferguson is really happy with the way recruiting has gone for him so far.

"It's been going great. I get a lot of calls from a lot of recruiters, but I feel it (recruiting) is going well," Ferguson said. "Right now Kansas is my only offer, but I think more will come. I am just going to continue working hard in the off season."

Ferguson finished the season with 67 tackles, six interceptions, 10 pass break-ups, and a sack.
