Brent to Decide Early?

Kevin Brent is one of the most highly rated players in the country and although it has been rumored that he is a strong lean to the Oklahoma Sooners he currently admits that it is a five team race for his signature, and some fans will find it interesting who is not on his list. Early on in the process he was thinking of taking it to the wire, but could it now be a much quicker decision?

Kevin Brent, a 5-foot-11, 205-pound safety from South Oak Cliff High in Texas believes that it he is an aggressive player coming up to make hits from his spot in the defensive backfield.

"I guess I am a great tackler," Brent said of his biggest strengths.

"I like guys like Bob Sanders and Ed Reed. They bring aggressiveness and they bring hunger (to the table)."

When looking to someone to relate to that has went through similar things with the recruiting process, Brent looks to get some advice from former SOC star Lendy Holmes who is at OU.

"I talk to Lendy Holmes," Brent informed when asked who he turns who he watched and learned from when he was coming up. "He just told me to stay humble and do not let all of the recruiting get to me."

It had looked like Brent was coming down to a decision between Texas and Oklahoma, but he now says there are five schools on his list that he is trying to decide between, and the Longhorns are not one of them.

"Right now it is probably Oklahoma, LSU, USC, Texas Tech, and Miami (FL)," Brent responded when asked about his current favorites. "All of these schools have offered me."

"All of the schools are recruiting me to play strong safety except for Texas Tech, who is saying free (safety)."

Brent has taken an unofficial visit to Oklahoma and he liked what he saw while he was in Norman.

"Probably their field," Brent said when asked about the highlights of an unofficial he took to Oklahoma. "It was fun. It was beautiful out there. I liked the weight room."

Brent does not want to rush a decision, but admits that he would like to wrap the whole thing up before his senior season kicks off next fall.

"I am going to try to make my decision in August before the season starts."

As a junior, Brent racked up 85 tackles and three interceptions to earn DFW safety of the year honors.
