LAMAR WOODLEY, DE, 6'3, 250, 4.72, SAGINAW, MICHIGAN:
If you are looking for a prototype defensive end then look no further than Mr. Woodley. He has the size and speed that all college recruiters are looking for.
A four-year starter, Woodley was a starter at right offensive tackle during his freshman season. Since then Woodley has played outside linebacker and right offensive tackle and loves playing both ways.
"I like playing offensive tackle in high school," said Woodley. "I like going after the top linebackers on the other team and I think that gives me an opportunity to do some good things on offense. I don't really play every series on offense and that helps me on defense. Defense is where I want to play and on defense is where the games are won."
Woodley can bench 315 pounds he has a 29-inch vertical jump. Woodley attended the Michigan State Nike camp where he excelled in several different drills. Woodley starts in hoops (12 ppg, 12 rbg) and he throws the shot put (54'7, -- fifth in state).
Woodley just started to talk to OU a couple of weeks and ago and the two sides have hit it off, as he will take his first visit to OU this weekend.
"Oklahoma is one of the top teams in the country and I can see myself playing their," said Woodley. "I knew a little bit about Oklahoma before they starting calling and they are telling me they are recruiting me as a defensive end. They need some defensive ends in their program and if I went to OU that would give me a chance to come in and play right away."
Woodley also likes Michigan (12-6), Michigan State, USC (11-29) and Florida (Jan). Woodley will wait until Michigan State gets a new football coach before visiting in East Lansing.
"We have a lot of Saginaw guys who have gone on and had a great career at Michigan State," said Woodley. "Charles Rogers is just one of many great players at Michigan State that is from my part of the country. So, I will wait and see who they are going to hire and then take it from there."
