I wasn't able to get hold of Fort Worth, Texas punter Cody Freeby (6-3, 220, 4.8) of Ft. Worth Christian Academy, Texas tonight, but I was able to talk with his father at length.
His father wanted me to talk to Cody about his commitment to OU, but from all indications there is no doubt that he is committed to the Sooners.
Cody grew up an OU fan and has atteneded the OU football camps for several years. In fact, Freeby works out at OU every April with Rob Pelfrey, who holds a punting camp in Norman.
So, I am counting Cody as a soft commitment, and the reason I don't count him as a firm commitment is because his father told me to get that from him. I expect to get that in the next day or so, but I will be very surprised of Freeby does not sign with the Sooners.
Cody averaged 49.4 yards per punt this season and his dad said that he averaged 44.1 yards in the air with a hang time of 4.0 seconds. That is very, very, very good.
RECRUITING: Punter will make it official soon
