RECRUITING: Baker ready for first visit

Lewisville (Hebron HS), Texas linebacker Lewis Baker talks recruiting about his upcoming visits

LEWIS BAKER, LB, 6-3, 205, 4.5, HEBRON, TEXAS:

JH: When did your high school team get knocked out of the playoffs?

LB: "We got bounced in the second round in the playoffs. We lost to Aledo 21-14. They have a quarterback - Brodrick Newton - who scored three touchdowns against us. He just runs around and eventually burned us. He ran quarterback draws and isos and is really fast. He is going to Texas A&M."

JH: What were your statistics this year?

LB; "I missed five games this year with a stinger in my neck, but I ended up with at least 80 tackles anyway."

JH: Are you playing basketball or anything?

LB: "I lost a lot of weight from my injury, so I am just working with my personal training to get my weight back up. I am down to about 200 pounds and I want to play my first year in college and I am taking my dream to play in college very seriously. I am looking at it from the standpoint that my career is very important for me and that injury has made me look hard at how I take care of myself."

JH: How is recruiting going?

LB: "Texas just left my house. I think Oklahoma is going to be in my house on Monday. I am going to South Bend this weekend and I hear that it is snowing there. That won't bother me. I don't care what the weather is like."

JH: Are you getting close to making a decision?

LB: "The schools that I am narrowing it down to I am very serious about. I am going to make my decision based on where I feel the most comfortable at. I want a school that is great academically and where I feel I will feel good about living at for the next five years. I want to develop a relationship with the coaching staff, but just look at the Texas A&M thing. I have to also have a great relationship with the team, players, administration and the school itself, but you never know what will happen with the coaching staff."

JH: What are you remaining visits?

LB: "I am also going to OU (12-13) and Vanderbilt (1-17). I am also going to visit Georgia Tech, but I don't know what date. I am not going to visit Texas."
