Future OU Linebackers Set for Visit

OU commitments Tom Wort and Jaydan Bird were both in Dallas for the Texas game, and they are now both coming in to Norman for their official visits this weekend to see the Sooners take on a nationally rated Kansas team…

New Braunfels High linebacker Tom Wort is looking forward to the chance of spending some time on the Oklahoma campus this weekend on his official visit.

Jaydan Bird a linebacker commit from Kansas will also be heading in for his official visit, and the two will probably get to spend plenty of time with the OU linebacker corps and Coach Venables.

"I can't wait. I am really excited," Wort said about his visit.

"I got to meet a couple of guys at the game last week in Dallas. Hopefully we get to know each other even better (this weekend) and bond."

"I am really excited," Bird echoed. "I want to really get to meet the players. I have met a few of them already. I have hung out with them and I am pretty close to them. I am close with the linebackers, of course."

"I am just really excited to get to know them better, have fun, and build relationships with all of future teammates."

Both linebackers were in Dallas last weekend for the Cotton Bowl, where their future team was upset 35-45 at the hands of Texas.

Despite the loss they had an outstanding time watching the game, and both players are looking forward to experiencing the Red River Rivalry for themselves.

"It was pretty much unreal," Wort exclaimed. "I have never been to one of those games like that - a college game - that was that big. It was a great game. It was real exciting and real fun to be at that game."

"It is kind of surreal. It is weird to think that one day I will be playing on that kind of field with that kind of atmosphere. I don't think its hit me yet."

Bird echoed Wort's comments about the atmosphere, but he also wants to strap the pads on and play in the asap.

"It was crazy. It was nuts. You could tell everyone was in to the game. It was a great atmosphere to be in. I liked it a lot."

"I am ready to progress and get in to that. I could see myself playing in the game and envisioning myself doing all of the stuff like that and hitting running backs."

The Kansas game was pegged as a big recruiting weekend and a number of others are coming in to take a look at the school. Bird hopes that everyone is impressed with what they see and want to become a part of his future football family.

"I think it will help get some uncommitted guys to commit because they are going to see how much fun we are having and get to see what the atmosphere is like," Bird explained. "They will get to see what we are really like and see how welcoming we are and how welcoming the players that are already there are."
