Ere leads Sooners in rout of Hartford

Ere gets career-high 33 points as No. 6 Oklahoma blasted Hartford, 92-52, Saturday in Norman

Ebi Ere scored a career-high 33 points and No. 6 Oklahoma (4-1) blasted Hartford, 92-52, Saturday in Norman.

It was the second game of Hartford's trip to the Sooner State. The Hawks lost to Oklahoma State, 65-52, Thursday in Stillwater.

Ere exploded for 19 of his 33 in the first half as the Sooners took a double digit lead into halftime and never looked back.

"I watched him on tape, I watched him on TV, I watched him when he was in junior college, and obviously he's a talent," said Hartford coach Larry Harrison after the game. "I think Jerell Parker is probably our best defensive wing player, but he was no match tonight for him."

"I was getting wide open three's and I was hitting them tonight," said Ere. "Last week, we got the same open shots and we weren't hitting 'em."

Hollis Price was the Sooners second leading scorer with 17. After just scoring four points in the first half, Price bounced back once again in the second half with 14 of his 17 in the second half.

Freshmen forward Kevin Bookout chipped in 15 points and seven rebounds.

Oklahoma will return to the court next Saturday when they meet Coppin State at the Lloyd Noble Center.
