MEN'S BASKETBALL

THIS WEEK: Jeff Capel's Sooners will host an intrasquad scrimmage on Saturday at McCasland Field House at 3:30 p.m.  The event is open to the public and free.  Doors open at 2:30 p.m., individual drills start at 3 and two 15-minute periods begin at 3:30.

PROMOTIONS: Mini packs for men's basketball season go on sale Tuesday on SoonerSports.com and are more fan friendly than ever.  Fans can build their own mini pack by choosing the opponents and dates that work best for them.  Included in the mini packs are one premium game (pick among Texas, Oklahoma State and Kansas), three non-conference games and three conference games.  Prices are $149 ($21.29 per ticket) and $79 ($11.29 per ticket), depending on seat location.

ROWING

LAST WEEK: The OU Women's Rowing Team traveled to Austin, Texas, last weekend to compete in the Head of the Colorado hosted by the Austin Rowing Club. Both varsity and novice teams competed, marking the first time for the novice squad to race. The varsity squad finished third out of 20 entries in the Women's Open Four event, while the novices finished second in the First Novice Eight and third in the Second Novice Eight.

THIS WEEK:  The Sooners travel to Chattanooga, Tenn., for the Head of the Hooch, held Nov. 1-2.  It marks the final competition for the fall semester for the OU rowing squad.

SOCCER

LAST WEEK:
The Sooners started their three-game home stand with a 1-1 record over the weekend.  After suffering its fifth one-goal defeat of the season on Friday to Nebraska, 1-0, OU rebounded on Sunday to record a 2-1 victory over Iowa State.  Ashley Farrand and Whitney Palmer scored in the win, which kept OU's postseason hopes alive going into the final weekend of the regular season.  OU (3-14-1 overall, 2-6-1 Big 12) is currently in ninth place, but a
win in the season finale against No. 9 Oklahoma State would lock up the tournament's No. 8 seed. 

THIS WEEK:
The Ford Bedlam Series against the Oklahoma State Cowgirls (15-1-2, 6-1-2) awaits Oklahoma on Friday, Oct. 31.  The rivalry game is slated for a 7 p.m. start in Norman and will decide the Sooners' potential berth in the conference tournament for the fourth time in the last eight years.

NOTES:
Sophomore Whitney Palmer's goal on Sunday was her team-leading eighth of the season and the 14th of her career.  The single-season total is tied for the third most by a Sooner and her 14 career goals is tied for sixth best all-time at OU … The Sooners are 2-2-1 in their last five games … Junior Ashley Farrand scored her first career goal on Sunday to push OU past Iowa State … Senior Traci Dickenson recorded a season-high seven saves in her sixth straight start as the Sooners' goalkeeper … OU is 2-3-1 with Dickenson starting in goal.


PROMOTIONS:

Friday is senior night, as Traci Dickenson and Katie Corbitt will be honored pre-game … OU fans of all ages are encouraged to attend in costume for the chance to win prizes, including OU memorabilia, a free Sooner Kids Club membership, gift cards and more … The Sooners will sign autographs following the game.

WOMEN'S GOLF

LAST WEEK: Carol Ludvigson's Sooners finished in third place at the 17-team Price's "Give ‘Em Five" Invitational in Las Cruces, N.M (Oct. 13-15).  The 54-hole tournament was hosted by New Mexico State University and played at the 6,319-yard, par-72 New Mexico State University Golf Course.  True Freshman Kelly Short led the Sooners with an eighth-place finish, while each OU individual finished in the top 31.

THIS WEEK: The Sooners, who are ranked No. 58 by Golfweek, will round out the fall season Tuesday and Wednesday (Oct. 28-29), at the 15-team Kent Youel Invitational.  The University of Hawai'i will host the 36-hole tournament at the 6,140-yard, par 72 Kapolei Golf Course in Kapolei, Hawai'i.  Eighteen holes will be played both days starting at 12:30 CDT.


NOTES: OU will make its fourth appearance in five years at the Kent Youel Invitational, after placing ninth in 2006, third in 2004 and first in 2003 … Senior Kendall Dye recorded her 100th round as a Sooner at the Price's "Give ‘Em Five" Invitational … Like Dye, sophomores Ellen Mueller and Sara Hemingway and freshman Brooke Collins will participate in their fourth consecutive tournament of the season this week ... Kelly Short holds the top spot in the Sooners' lineup this week after her first career top-10 finish in Las Cruces.

VOLLEYBALL

Last Week: Oklahoma dropped a 3-0 decision to the Nebraska Cornhuskers on Saturday evening at McCasland Field House. The Sooners (8-12, 4-8 Big 12) kept the match close but the second-ranked Huskers were too much, winning 25-21, 25-16 and 25-13.

This Week: Oklahoma travels to Austin, Texas, Wednesday evening to face third-ranked Texas at 7 p.m. OU hosts Baylor on Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m.                                                                                                                             

Notes: Freshman setter Brianne Barker recorded her 10th double-double of the season with 24 assists and 10 digs … Barker added three kills and hit a team-high .375 clip … Sophomore Sarah Freudenrich was the Sooners' top scorer with eight kills … Freshman Caitlin Higgins added 10 digs and freshman Danielle Alva had a season-high eight digs … Freshman Suzy Boulavsky and redshirt sophomore Francie Ekwerekwu each had four block assists for the Sooners.

Promotions: Oklahoma hosts Sooner Kids Club Day at McCasland Field House on Sunday. There will games for kids following the match and the first 250 fans through the door get an Oklahoma volleyball drawstring bag.

WRESTLING

THIS WEEK:  The University of Oklahoma wrestling squad will conclude the preseason this Wednesday, Oct. 29, with its annual Red/White Classic held on the campus of Central Oklahoma at Hamilton Field House in Edmond.  The intrasquad ranking matches, scheduled to begin at 7 p.m., will help determine starters for the season, which begins on Nov. 8, at the Brockport/Oklahoma Gold Classic in Brockport, N.Y.

NOTES:  The Oklahoma team is ranked No. 20 according to both the W.I.N. and NWCA preseason polls … All seven returning starters from last year's squad will be in action on Wednesday, including NCAA qualifiers Joey Fio (125 pounds), Zack Bailey (141 pounds) and Will Rowe (149 pounds) … The UCO Bronchos will hold their ranking matches alongside OU on Wednesday evening.
