RECRUITING: A&M commit waiting to meet Franchione

Could Oklahoma have a shot at super Tyler, Texas OLB Justin Warren if things don't work out with A&M?

JUSTIN WARREN, OLB, TYLER LEE, 6-3, 220, 4.51, TEXAS:

JH: How did your season go?

JW: "We were 10-4 and lost in the semifinals to Midland. We lost 24-14."

JH: What kind of season did you have?

JW: "I had 90 total tackles, 11 sacks, seven tackles for losses, three fumbles recoveries, one caused fumble and 14 quarterback pressures. I barely missed my goals of having 12 sacks and 100 tackles."

JH: I have always been confused on whether you are going to be an outside linebacker or defensive end?

JW: "I still have as many people recruiting me to play outside linebacker as defensive end. Actually, I have more recruiting me to play defensive end. I can play at 235 next year, which probably puts me at outside linebacker. I am kind of weird in that I want to rush the passer, but when I am not rushing the passer I want to stand up and play linebacker. As a pass rusher I want to put my hand down or I wouldn't mind putting my hand down to rush the passer. I think I am one of the best pass rushers in the country and I don't think anybody can block me one-on-one. I don't think I can get up to 260 to play defensive end. I could be proven wrong, but right now I think outside linebacker is my best position."

JH: Texas A&M has a new football coach, has that effected your commitment to Texas A&M?

JW: "I talked to Coach Franchione yesterday and I talked to him tonight. You are not supposed to go to a school solely because of the coach. You go to a school because of the school and then the coach. Coach Franchione seems like a nice guy, so I still plan to go there."

JH: Will you not going to take any visits, despite the coaching change?

JW: "What I am going to do is to sit back and evaluate Coach Franchione. I am the kind of person that tries to think things through and he is supposed to come by Sunday night with the linebacker coach. That will give me a chance to meet him and the assistant coach and an opportunity to see what they are like. I am trying to see if I can have the same relationship with Coach Franchione that I had with Coach (R.C.) Slocum. I am going to push my visit to Texas A&M back to January so if I don't feel Coach Franchione and I are a good match then I would still have time to take other visits."

JH: If you do decide to take visits what other schools do you have an interest in?

JW: "I have been getting calls from OU, Colorado and LSU. I am really thinking about OU if things don't work out with A&M. I really don't plan on that happening, but if my visit doesn't go well on Sunday then I will set up a visit with OU."
