RECRUITING: New favorite for Mesquite safety?

Mesquite, Texas safety Darien Williams talks about recruiting and his interest in Oklahoma

JH: What are you doing to stay in shape right now?

DW: "I lift weights by myself and I ran track. In track I run the 100 meters and probably the spring relay. I am going to try to long jump as well."

JH: What is your time in the 100 meters?

DW: "I haven't won it since last year, but last season I ran it in 10.8 seconds. I feel I can do better than that this year."

JH: How many coaches did you see this week?

DW: "I saw three coaches this week, but only one came to my house. Coach (Brent) Venables came by my school. TCU came by my home and Texas A&M came by my school."

JH: Do you have a favorite right now?

DW: "Not really. I just want to take the rest of my visits and see how things go. I have already been to Texas A&M and I am going to OU on December 20th."

JH: Did the firing of R.C. Slocum upset you any?

DW: "I will just have to see if the new coaches fit me like the other coaches at Texas A&M. I was kind of upset they fired Coach Slocum, but that is the way it is and I have to adjust."

JH: What are your thoughts on Oklahoma?

DW: "I really like Oklahoma the best right now. They need a strong safety in their program and that is my best position."

JH: Is there really any difference in strong safety or free safety?

DW: "I think there is a little difference in the two and I think I am a little better at strong safety."
