Grid News: Tigers Out for Revenge?

Will the Missouri Tigers come in fired up after last year's embarrassing loss to OU in the Big 12 title game? Bob Stoops has been in town for 10 years, but has it flown by? Should Kevin Wilson be recognized as the coordinator of the year?

Missouri has something to prove

The Sooners were able to defeat the Missouri Tigers twice in 2007, and the 48-28 shelling in last year's Big 12 Championship game in San Antonio, Texas had to leave a sour taste in the Tigers mouth.

"We know how good Missouri is and we know what happened last year in the Big 12 and I am sure they remember it," said OU defensive captain Gerald McCoy. "I am sure they are going to come in and play hard."

"We know that, so we have to prepare that way. We can't say that they lost to this team, that team, and that team. So what? Just cause they lost to them does not mean that they will lose to us."

"We know Missouri is coming after us."

10 years ago today Bob Stoops was hired as the OU head coach

There are not many coaches that have had the success of Bob Stoops at Oklahoma.

Over the past 10 years he has coached OU on to an overall record of 107-23, a home record of 60-2, and a Big 12 record of 72-14.

His teams have collected five Big 12 Championship trophies, competed in seven BCS bowl games, three national title games, and won a National Championship in 2000.

"It is hard to believe it has been 10 years to the day," Stoops said as he reminisced.

"I was standing right here with the team, I remember. I love em. Those guys were great. They got us started."

Is there much doubt that Kevin Wilson is the coordinator of the year?

Kevin Wilson was named as a finalist for the Broyles award that is annually given away to college footballs best coordinator.

Bob Stoops says that no one should be surprised by the news as the OU offense averages 556.7 yards and 53.3 points per game.

"I am sure that everyone can understand why," Stoops said firmly. "If you look at what we have done offensively it is just incredible."

"Who knows what some of those games could have been if Sam (Bradford) would have stayed in. Kevin is a sharp guy. He does a great job developing the offense and using all of his pieces he has to work with. - motivating and keeping them sharp - it has been amazing what he has been able to do."

The other finalists are Charlie Strong (Defensive Coordinator, Florida), Gary Andersen, (Defensive Coordinator, Utah), Dick Bumpas (Defensive Coordinator, TCU), Stan Parrish (Offensive Coordinator, Ball State).
