Recruiting Weekend Recap

A brief look at who visited Norman this weekend and where OU stands for each prospect

As much as I would like to say that the Sooners have picked up a verbal or two from this weekend of visits, but as the recruits scatter to go back home that doesn't appear to be the case.

Defensive end Carl Pendleton of Sapulpa, OK visited OU for the first time officially and the 100th time total and had another outstanding visit. He left OU telling the Sooners that he was leaning their way, but that he still wanted to take his final visit to Kansas State.

Recently, Pendleton talked of taking his recruiting down to signing day, but it appears that Pendleton and his family has decided to try to make a commitment after the Kansas State visit and before the start of the second semester in school. He visits Kansas State next weekend. The family wants Pendleton to concentrate on his wrestling career during the second semester and they don't feel he can do that if he is still dragging out his recruiting. The Sooners are a big leader here, but until he goes public you have to worry.

Glenpool, Okla. running back Courtney Tennial had a great visit to OU, but it was only his first visit. However, something may happen here in the next couple of days. If it doesn't then he will take his official visit to Oklahoma State and possibly Nebraska.

Tennial has always been an OU fan and has participated in several of their camps. He has been to OU to many times to count. OU appears to be the favorite here, but OSU is making a big push. OU would like to close out this deal before he visits OSU so the next couple of days are big in this area.

Lewisville, Texas linebacker Lewis Baker loved his visit to OU, but it doesn't sound like he is through recruiting. He is still talking about visiting Georgia Tech and Vanderbilt, and he might even visit Texas A&M. The key is whether the Sooners impressed Baker like Notre Dame did and that is to early to call at this point.

Tight end Jamesley Jean of Tampa Jefferson, Florida had a great visit to OU and his situation will be interesting to watch over the next few days.

Lewisville stars Tony Cade and Demarrio Pleasant are very solid with their comittment. Athlete Joe John Finley of Arlington and offensive lineman Brian Zimpel of Broken Arrow.
