Miller Set for Sooner Career

After taking his official visit last weekend Jonathon Miller is all set to begin his career as an Oklahoma Sooner. Sooners Illustrated caught up with him for more on how the visit went…

Jonathon Miller, a 6-foot-0, 190-pound running back from Naaman Forest High in Texas enjoyed his official visit to the University of Oklahoma last weekend.

"The good thing about it was I talked to a lot more of the players and I got a lot more comfortable with them," Miller explained. "I am real excited about going up there."

The Sooners also held their annual football banquet and Miller enjoyed watching key members of the team receive awards for their play in 2008.

"I had a good time at the banquet," Miller beamed. "The banquet was really nice. It was their football banquet. They showed the All-Americans and presented Sam's Heisman trophy."

Miller had been to OU a number of times before, but on his latest trip he enjoyed spending one-on-one time and bonding with the current players.

"I hung out with Gerald McCoy, Casey Walker, Joseph Ibiloye, Jermie Calhoun, Justin Johnson, Jameel Owens and DeJuan Miller," he said.

"Casey Walker was my host. He told me it was fun, but it takes hard work. They are one of the hardest working teams in the nation."

Walker and Miller actually have a little bit of a history.

"I actually played against him for three years in row," said Miller with a laugh. "I am 2-1 against him though. My junior year I ran for 277 yards against him."

Now the two are looking forward to being on the same side.

Look for more on Miller soon as he will be featured in Sooners Illustrated magazine.
