Jones Hearing from Major Programs

Oklahoma will likely sign a defensive tackle or two in the class of 2010 and Midwest City's Dom Jones is a local name that recruitniks should keep a close eye on…

Dominique Jones, a 6-foot-0, 285-pound defensive tackle from Midwest City High in Okla., was one of the top "Sooner State prospects at the U.S. Army Combine.

"I think I did pretty good," Jones said of his combine performance. "It was an opportunity for me to go against some of the top guys in the country."

Jones and his Bomber teammates finished just shy of a State Championship appearance in 2008 and he wants to take it one step farther next year and he figures that they just need to dedicate themselves even more to make it happen.

"Work even harder," Jones said when asked what would be the key to winning it all in '09.

Jones is hearing from some solid programs, but he has yet to reel in his first scholarship offer.

"It has pretty much been the same," Jones admitted. "Oklahoma, Clemson, Texas Tech, Oregon and Alabama."

Oregon is a new school on his list and he was a little surprised by their interest.

"That kinda surprised me having them come in and look at me from that far (away)."

At this time Jones is not stressing out about a lack of official scholarship papers.

"I am hopeful that I will get some by the spring. I am not too much worried about it. I think Oklahoma (could offer) from what I have heard."

Jones is scheduled to be in Norman for Junior Day visit on Saturday.
