Focus 2010: Brad Hefley

Riverton athlete Brad Hefley will be one of the highest ranked players in Kansas for the class of 2010 and scholarship offers are starting to roll in…

Brad Hefley, a 6-foot-4, 250-pound athlete from Riverton High in Kan., was invited to Oklahoma's Junior Day, but was unable to attend.

"I actually did not get to make it down. We were playing in the championship game of a basketball tournament," Hefley explained.

"I talked to coach (Kevin) Wilson and he told me that it was okay and that they would just have me down for a visit to watch practice sometime in the spring."

Schools are already starting to line up to get Hefley's signature.

"I have an offer from Kansas State," Hefley said. "I am also getting interest from schools like Oklahoma and Kansas is showing a lot of interest."

"I am getting a lot of letters right now. Arkansas, Alabama and LSU are sending me letters. Oregon told my counselor that I basically have an offer waiting for me, but I need to take the ACT first."

With his size and frame Hefley could project at couple of different positions on the next level.

"They (schools) are basically recruiting me as an athlete," Hefley informed. "Some schools are saying tight end and some schools are saying defensive end. I was being recruited by the defensive ends coach at Kansas State, but now I am also talking to the tight ends coach."

Hefley has been at Oklahoma's summer camp the past two years and he will likely be back again this summer.

"I went to camp at OU (last year)," Hefley reported. "I got to go up against guys like Jaydan Bird, who committed there. It was a good experience."
