Uko Enjoying Success

George Uko was the top performer along the defensive line at the Combine in Los Angeles last Saturday and his offer list has now hit the double-digit marker. caught up with him for the latest.

George Uko, a 6-foot-3, 295-pound defensive tackle from Don Lugo High in Cali, has been rising up the recruiting charts.

He is also starting to compile quite an offer list with schools like Oklahoma, California, Oregon, Tennessee, Nebraska, Arizona State, Arizona, Colorado, and Washington all stepping up to the plate.

"I have been enjoying it all and just taking it all in. I just got my latest offer, which was from Cal a couple of weeks ago."

"I have 10 offers now. Double digits!"

Uko is not ready to name a favorite, but some schools have certainly grabbed his attention.

"I don't really have a favorite. I am probably going to sit down with my parents and stuff and talk about all of that real soon."

"Right now I am really liking Oklahoma, Tennessee, Cal, Oregon, and schools like that."

I am sure like me that you noticed that he has three out of state schools on his "wish" list and his offer list, and those schools have gained some extra attention from Uko because they have stepped in early.

"It means a lot to me to see major schools coming from out of state and recruiting me and that they know who I am."

"The offer from Oklahoma was a big one. I did not really know that they were that interested in me and then they came out to my school and decided to offer. It definitely brought a smile to my face."

Uko is no rush to make a decision and would like to take the time to evaluate all of his options.

"I think I will take all of my visits and then I will try to make a decision signing day."

As a 2008 junior at Chino (Calif.) Don Lugo, George Uko was all-league and had 88 tackles, six hurries, five sacks, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery. He also caught two receptions for 37-yards and one touchdown.
