Curiosity got Marsh looking

Recruiting coverage at SoonersIllustrated is still going as we look to bring fans the latest in Oklahoma recruiting news. Today, we spoke with defensive tackle Cassius Marsh from Oaks Christian in California. He talked with us for an update.

Not too much time has pass since Westlake Village Oaks Christian defensive tackle Cassius Marsh decided that he wanted to open up his recruitment after committing to California back in April.

Now with that decision behind him, Marsh will look at any one of his 10 offers, plus a few more. According to latest reports, the 6-foot-4, 290-pound four-star defensive tackle still has a strong tie to Cal, but wanted to make sure he wasn't looking over other opportunities.

"I have a lot of interest in the SEC and Big 12 schools. I mean, most of the offers I have are from schools that are close, but I am curious to see what the other schools are about," Marsh said. "I am not sure if I want to play football on the West Coast. I want to get out and check out schools on the East Coast and down south."

At the moment, Marsh holds offers from USC, Arizona, BYU, UCLA, Cal, Arizona State, Oregon, Washington, and the latest from Nebraska, Tennessee

As for those "other" schools, he wants to open up talks with coaches are from Ohio State, Oklahoma, Georgia, LSU, and Florida. Marsh did not mention if all of those programs came by Oaks Christian for spring football, but he did remember one in particular.

"An Oklahoma coach came by the school about 2-3 weeks ago, but I am not sure who it was," Marsh said. "I did not talk with him, but my coach said that they are interested in me."

When the Sooner coaches came by to check out prospects, Marsh was still committed to the Golden Bears.

Did that have any bearing on Marsh getting an offer?

"It may have, but I'm not sure. Oklahoma has not been able to really see what I can do yet," Marsh said. "That was the first time they had seen me and I was already committed. The day they came by practice it was an offensive day and they do not have my film yet either."

But that is soon to change as Marsh said that his coach would make sure that his tape gets into the Oklahoma coaches' hands.

As for Marsh's summer agenda, the USC "Rising Stars" camp is one where he will attend as well as Cal. He wants to get out to other programs that have shown him interest (or those who he is interested in), but has yet to map out how it will all go down.

Not sure about the other programs on the eastern and southern regions, but Marsh has already made some things known as for how he feels about the Sooners.

"Oklahoma has a great defensive line and you can tell they are coached well because of the success they have had," Marsh said. "I mean, and Oklahoma is big-time football and I always wanted to be part of a big-time program. After they get my film, it would be nice to get an offer.

"I hope they do, because I will take an official visit to Oklahoma."

Marsh had 60 tackles (33 solo) and 16 sacks last season at Oaks Christian.
