Oklahoma Head Coach Bob Stoops and Co-Defensive Coordinator Brent Venables had a great visit with San Francisco Community College Chijoke Onyenegcha on Thursday. And at this point, the Sooners appear to be the leader for his services, according to sources close the situation.
Onyenegcha plans to visit Arizona State this weekend and apparently that will be the end of his trips. He has already been to OU and Florida State, and they appear to be his top two choices with OU the leader at this point.
However, don't be surprised if Onyenegcha doesn't take his recruiting all the way down until signing day.
One advantage that the Sooners have for Onyenegcha is the fact that he attended the same junior college last year with current OU linebackers Lance Mitchell and Pasha Jackson. Onyenegcha is still in contact with Mitchell and Jackson, and that could prove to be the difference in the end.
Another factor that helps the Sooners is the apparent loss of Michael Hawkins. Hawkins was expected to contend for Andre Woolfolk's starting corner spot, so now there is one less roadblock in front of Onyenegcha for the starting spot at OU.
