Marsh to visit Oklahoma?

Recruiting coverage at SoonersIllustrated is still going as we look to bring fans the latest in Oklahoma recruiting news. Today, we spoke with defensive tackle Cassius Marsh from Oaks Christian in California.

Making the decision on where to take the five official visits can be tough sometimes. In many cases, athletes have to slim their list down in order to try and maximize the best situation for their recruitment.

But for Westlake Village Oaks Christian (CA) defensive tackle Cassius Marsh, he may not even need all of his visits to make a final decision.

"I don't plan on taking all five of my official visits," Marsh said.

Marsh said that he is scheduled to go to California, the school he was once committed to, for an official visit. Then the following week, he flies out to Baton Rouge for an official visit to LSU

And when Marsh takes his visits, he will not travel alone.

"My mom goes with me to my visits. I want her to be able to experience everything as well," Marsh said. "That is why I only have to two visits set up right now. I may take more, but I am not sure. That is a lot of traveling for my mom to do in a short time span."

In a recent update, the 6-foot-4, 270-pound Marsh said that the initial plan was to get to Oklahoma to see the Sooners take on Kansas State.

He may have called an audible on that one.

"I'm not sure if I am going to make that visit. I want to check it out obviously, but I need to look into a few things," Marsh said. "It would be a lot of trips that my mother would have to pay for so I need to see if it will work out."

And while that is all being worked out in the household, the Sooner coaches are steady working to get the four-star defensive tackle to Norman.

"I still talk to coach (Jackie) Shipp and coach (Josh) Heupel weekly," Marsh said. "They are both pretty excited and really want to get me down there. I just have to see if my mom can make it."

Aside from Oklahoma pursuing Marsh, he also said that USC is back in the picture and that talks between the two have started back up.

But when Marsh is not busy with recruiting, it all about the ball at Oaks Christian. Right now the team is 3-0 and Marsh's numbers are solid.

"I have about 23 solo tackles and I have five sacks on the year," Marsh said. "I have like 20 quarterback hurries too. I feel my game has gotten a lot better than last year. I relied on talent last season, but now I am much better in my technique which has helped me to be a lot better in my pass rush."

Marsh has the official visits set. He said that if he plans to take others, Oklahoma and USC are most likely to be considered.
