Norman in the Future Plans for Burnett

Recruiting coverage at SoonersIllustrated is still going as we look to bring fans the latest in Oklahoma recruiting news. Today we talked recruiting with Culver City linebacker Victor Burnett from California about some of the official visits he has set.

Though his team recently lost to the No. 1 team in the state of California, Culver City (CA) linebacker Victor Burnett has been going hard as of late. The Culver City team is 3-1 at the moment, but Burnett is sure that they will bounce back.

"We just lost to the No. 1 team in the state. Everything sort of fell off when our quarterback hurt his shoulder," Burnett said. "He probably could have played, but the entire season is more important than one game."

But no worries for Burnett. At the moment as he is on track for another monster season from the middle linebacker spot, making plenty of plays. So far, he has 61 tackles (nine for loss), four sacks, and an interception, which he returned 25 yards for a score.

"I got to get it," Burnett said.

Speaking of getting things, on the official visits, the 6-foot-1, 218-pound Burnett has already made one official visit to Washington. But he just booked another.

This was yesterday when he finalized the plans.

"Yesterday I got my official visit set up for Oklahoma. I am coming down at the end of the month when the Sooners play Kansas State," Burnett said. "I talked to coach (Brent) Venables and he is excited to get me down. I was supposed to come for the Tulsa game, but the flights were crazy. I really want to see the campus."

Next week, Burnett will be at Arizona for his second of three official visits. During the interview, Burnett did not express other schools but recent reports show that perhaps Nebraska, Tennessee and West Virginia may be in the mix.

As for the Sooner program, Burnett has always expressed strong interest in Oklahoma. With that said, when he comes down for the game he will keep an eye on a few things.

"Oklahoma is one of my top schools. If I had a Top 5, they would be right there for sure," Burnett said. "I will be watching the team closely to see how the coaches interact with the players. I also want to talk to the starters and the second-string guys as well. I want to get two perspectives on how the coaches interact with all the athletes."

And while he is looking forward to seeing things for himself, there are some things in the college football world that he has been paying attention to.

"I have been seeing some upsets go one with USC and Cal, but I have seen some things from Oklahoma as well," Burnett said. "I was watching Ryan Reynolds and he is one heckuva linebacker. Of course I noticed that Jermaine Gresham is out for the season, but I also see Oklahoma's back up quarterback (Landry Jones). He is a beast."
