Oklahoma Reemphasizing Stadium Bag Policy

NORMAN, Okla. -- University of Oklahoma officials announced today that football game management staff will reemphasize limitations on bags allowed into the stadium beginning with this Saturday's game against Baylor, including implementing an airline-type container model for measuring allowable purses.

Prohibited items continue to include all bags; backpacks or fanny packs; cases for binoculars, cameras, or other items; and all other carry items except purses smaller than 10" x 10". Purses larger than 10" by 10" will continue to be prohibited. All purses allowed into the stadium will be searched.

Containers measuring 10" x 10" will be placed at each entry to Gaylord Family – Oklahoma Memorial Stadium. Purses that do not fit into the container will not be permitted in the stadium.

The containers are the only new part of the policy. The 10"x10" restriction has been in place at the stadium for several years. Restrictions on other items remain the same as outlined on game tickets and the Athletic Department Web site, soonersports.com.

"We are adding the containers to better define the limitations for our fans and simplify the process for our game staff," said Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics Programs and Director of Athletics Joe Castiglione. "We encourage our fans to bring as little as possible into the stadium to not only streamline their entry, but for everyone's comfort throughout the stadium."

In addition to the containers, signage will be added at numerous outlying locations to remind fans of the prohibited items and the purse size restriction before they reach the stadium gates.

OU and Baylor play Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
