Every year in recruiting it seems like the biggest fish take the longest to catch. And this year is no different.
Perhaps the biggest fish left on OU's recruiting board is Duncanville, Texas defensive tackle Xavier Lawson-Kennedy (6-3, 305, 4.88).
Depending on who you talk to and when you talk to them, Kennedy will decided between Oklahoma, Texas A&M and Oklahoma State Tuesday night. Kennedy will make his announcement on live televsion at 10PM (CST) on Fox Sports Southwest.
Another big fish waiting to be lured in is DeCatur, Illinois defensive tackle Lawrence Dampeer (6-3, 280, 4.8). Dampeer, who told OUInsider.com after his visit to Ohio State that OU was his leader, has apparently now narrowed his list down to Oklahoma and Illinois.
"Right now, I can't make up my mind," Dampeer told Chris Pool of poolrecruiting.com on Monday. "One minute I like Oklahoma, the next minute I like Illinois."I had good visits at both schools. Oklahoma has been the most consistent in recruiting me, Illinois is close to my family.
"Friday morning, I'm going to have a press conference and at the end of it, I'm going to put on the hat of the school that I'm going to sign with."
Should OU strike out on one of Dampeer or Kennedy, expect the Sooners to sign Plano, Texas offensive tackle Antonn Reid (6-3, 285, 5.1). Reid visited Norman last weekend and would accept OU's offer in a heartbeat should they lose on of their two coveted two remaining defensive tackle prospects.
Junior college cornerback Chijoke Onyenegecha still seems to be struggling with his decision after eliminating Flordia State last Friday.
George Rush - Head Coach at San Francisco City College - told James Hale on Monday night that that Chijoke has gone into his room and doesn't want to be disturbed as he tries to decide between OU and Arizona State.
Rush said Chijoke has not made a decision at this time and is having a tough time coming to a decision. Rush did say that Chijoke will sign with one of those two schools before noon California time on Wednesday.
And last but not least from the 'Why isn't this guy committed yet?' category is Tulsa Washington wide receiver Robert Meachem.
Meachem, who visited UCLA, Oklahoma, LSU and Tennessee officially, hasn't given anyone a hint publically on where he is going. But you can still expect the coveted five-star receiver is expected to ink with the Sooners at around 2PM in his high school gym on signing day.
