Thompson Excited for O-D Bowl

Tyrus Thompson will be one of eight Sooner commitments playing in the Offense-Defense All-American Bowl Game on Jan. 2 in Myrtle Beach, S.C. and four of those eight are offensive linemen.

Tyrus Thompson, a 6-foot-5, 290-pound offensive tackle from Pflugerville High in Texas is excited to play in the Offense-Defense Bowl where he will be coached by offensive line coach Tom Lovat, who coached in the NFL for over 20 years.

But he is also fired up to get to have the experience alongside future teammates Bronson Irwin, Austin Woods and Adam Shead, who will all join him at the University of Oklahoma next season.

If things work out right there is a chance that all four guys could find themselves all playing together at the same time during the game.

"Yes sir, most definitely," Thompson said when asked if he was excited about the possibility to play alongside the other OU offensive line commits.

"Me and the other o-line commits have been excited about it and can't wait to get out there and work together and make things happen on the field."

Thompson and his future teammates have had the unique experience of forming a tight chemistry well before entering the OU program.

They camped together at OU and then took their official visits together on the same weekend, and now they will all be spending a week of practice and camaraderie in Myrtle Beach.

"We all have great chemistry with each other and we are just getting to know each other a little better every time we do something like this," Thompson informed.

It will definitely be interesting to see how they develop together over the week of practice, as it may give Sooner fans a glimpse of what the future offensive line could look like in the years to come.
