RECRUITING: OU gets last shot at big-time guard

Houston, Texas point guard Daniel Gibson upcoming visit to Norman and his interest in the Sooners

JH: How is your season going?

DG: "It is going real good. We are undefeated in district at 18-0 and we are 27-3 overall. We are ranked fourth in Class 4A in state."

JH: How is your season going individually?

DG: "I am averaging 27 ppg, six rpg, six assists and five steals per game."

JH: What did you average as a sophomore?

DG: "I averaged about 28 points per game last season. My freshman year I averaged about 20 points per game."

JH: Do you consider yourself a point guard?

DG: "I feel like when I get to college that I will have to play the point, so why not play it now?"

JH: How would you describe your style of play?

DG: "For one thing I am very explosive. I am very versatile, because on one play I might slash to the hoop and slam it down, then on the next hit from 25 (feet) or then drive and pull up for the mid-range jumper. You might say that I can do a lot of things offensively."

JH: Are you visiting OU this weekend? And if so what do you think of the Sooners?

DG: "Yes. They are a pretty good school and ranked number five in the country. They have a great program and a program on the rise. They basically let their guards run their show and that is the kind of program that I want to play in."

JH: How is recruiting going for you?

DG: "I just got back from Kansas this weekend. Georgia Tech was also an official, but my visit to Arkansas and Texas were unofficial. Kansas was awesome and I loved it. It was the 105th anniversary of the program and their history is great. Coach Roy Williams is a great guy and I enjoyed talking to him."

JH: Do you have a leader?

DG: "No, I can't say that I do. I guess I am a lean to Texas, but I am seriously looking at the other schools. I can see a lot of the Texas games living in Houston and that is why Texas has the edge, because it is close to home and my parents can see me play."

JH: When will you make your decision?

DG: "I am going to verbal on my birthday, which is February 27. I want to get recruiting over worth so that I can just concentrate on playing ball. I might visit Arkansas before I make my decision, but that is kind of shaky because the playoffs start."
