Houston Players Sooner Fans Should Know: QB

With National Signing Day days away, the Class of 2010 recruiting is soon to be to an end. And with the exception of a couple blue-chipped players, the Sooner class is near completion. With that said, Sooners Illustrated would like to give a quick glance at the 2011 class by position in the Greater Houston area.

Note: These are a few players who have been identified as top players from the Greater Houston area. They may or may not have interest coming from Oklahoma

Top recruit: Dominic Merka, Crosby
Of the many quarterbacks coming out of the Houston area, Merka gets the nod as the top dog. Already has the ideal size (6-3, 195) for the college level. He will be heavily recruited and during an interview during postseason play, Merka was hearing from schools all across the country.

Merka, by the numbers, could be considered a dual threat quarterback throwing for 1,322 yards and 10 touchdowns to five interceptions. On the ground, he ran for 1,009 yards and nine touchdowns. Keep a close watch on this one.

Next in Line: Bram Kohlhausen, Houston Lamar
Not quite as big (6-2, 190) as Merka, but plenty of talent here. When a game in on the line, Kohlhausen is the guy you want leading the team. Fearless and will turn a game around one first down at a time. He threw for 1,164 yards and 19 touchdowns to four interceptions.

Other Notable Players:
Dexter Foreman, Alvin Manvel 6-3, 190
Conner Smith, Richmond Travis 6-4, 195
Tyler Bolfing, Montgomery 6-3, 180
