Houston Players Sooner Fans Should Know: RB

With National Signing Day days away, the Class of 2010 recruiting is soon to be to an end. And with the exception of a couple blue-chipped players, the Sooner class is near completion. With that said, Sooners Illustrated would like to give a quick glance at the 2011 class by position.

Note: These are a few players who have been identified as top players from the Greater Houston area. They may or may not have interest coming from Oklahoma

Top recruit: K.C. Nlemchi, Katy Cinco Ranch
Could have arguably been the best junior running back in the city. But in the case of the 6-foot-1, 213-pound Nlemchi, he has the numbers to prove it. Not many 2,000-yard rushers in the Houston area, but Nlemchi surpassed that mark with 2,388 yards and 28 touchdowns. Whether he grinds it out between that tackles or bounces it out to the edge, Nlemchi can be the workhorse.

At the moment, he has no offers. Look for that to change sooner than later.

Next in Line: Daniel Lasco, The Woodlands
Many would argue that Lasco should hold the top spot and depending on what you are looking for in a back, the point could come up in discussion. Over the last year, Lasco has put on significant weight (6-0, 193) since his sophomore campaign. And though he still takes plenty of hit and keeps moving, his body build shows that he could line up in a backfield or in the slot.

And he has the skills to play both. He finished with 1,520 yards and 17 touchdowns.

Other Notable Players:
Donovonn Young, Katy: 5-11, 210
Ricky Lunsford, Brazoswood: 5-11, 170
Jermichael Selders, Cy Creek: 5-11, 170
Leroy Dobbins, Montgomery: 5-8, 175
