Calhoun Shines So Far This Spring

Everybody knows about the potential of running back Jermie Calhoun, and he has continued to show flashes of that so far this spring. Sooners Illustrated caught up with him for a few quick questions this week.

On his expectations for the spring—You know, I'm just trying to work to get on the field really. You know, last year I took a lot of reps. I mean, I tried to take as many reps, but, you know, this year I think I'm going to see a lot of reps this year since DeMarco [ended] up coming back, [and] Mossis is back there too, so I think well be sharing a lot of time.

On his touchdown runs in last week's scrimmages—I don't know. I just was a new person came out of me I guess. You know, I think I dragged one of our players a couple times, and I don't know. It was a good day for me I guess. I think I had a 20-yard touchdown. I think I had two one-yarders.

On who he dragged—I ain't going to say nothing on that. I don't want to put him out like that.

On if his next mission is to show his abilities in a game—Well, at the same time yeah, but, you know, I'm just trying to be a part of the team. You know, my role is to get dirty, so that's what I'm going to do.

On if he can make big jumps this spring in terms of his progress—Yeah, I think I can. You know, this spring is building me up to be on that level, but I think, you know, I've been taking a lot of reps, and the more reps I've been taking, the better I've been doing, so who knows what's going to happen when [the game comes].
