Sooners, Price look for season sweep of A&M

Oklahoma guard Hollis Price goes up for a shot under pressure from Texas A&M guard Antoine Wright during the Sooners' 75-68 win over Texas A&M on January 28. Price led OU with 24 points in the win. Tip-off for Satruday's rematch in College Station is set for 3PM (CST).

COLLEGE STATION, Texas — If history repeats itself Saturday in College Station, Oklahoma should come away with a win.

Sooner Head Coach Kelvin Sampson has owned Texas A&M, and the entire state of Texas for that matter, since taking over at Oklahoma.

Under Sampson, the Sooners are 54-10 against Big 12 foes from the the Lone Star State and 13-1 against the Aggies. OU has won the last seven meetings against A&M. A&M's last win against Oklahoma was during the 1998-99 season when they hit a buzzer-beater to the Sooners 74-72.

That being said, this Texas A&M squad may be the best yet since joining the Big 12. A&M comes into Saturday's showdown at 13-11 and 5-8 in Big 12 play. The Aggies have been tough at home this season going 9-3 overall and 4-2 record in Big 12 play. Their lone two losses came against Oklahoma State and Texas.

Leading the way for the Aggies is six-foot-five senior Bernard King. King, the top scorer in school and Big 12 Conference history (1,933 points), ranks seventh in the league with his 17.5 points per contest.

The Aggies come into Saturday's game in somewhat of a tailspin after getting drubbed by Kansas, 85-45, Wednesday in Lawrence. A&M has also having lost five of its last seven games, while the Sooners are coming off of Wednesday's 67-52 loss to Missouri.

But Oklahoma hasn't lost back-to-back games in over two years, and if OU's defense can contain King and star freshmen Antoine Wright, look for the Sooners to continue their dominance of Texas A&M and the Lone Star State.

The Series
Oklahoma leads the overall series with Texas A&M, 18-1, and holds a 6-1 advantage in College Station. OU has won the series' last seven games. Kelvin Sampson is 13-1 against the Aggies as OU's head coach and is 5-1 on A&M's home floor.

The Polls
Oklahoma is ranked third in this week's AP poll. That makes 27 consecutive weeks that OU has appeared in the poll's top 10, dating back to Jan. 5 last year. Texas A&M is unranked in both major polls. The Sooners are ranked fourth in RPI while A&M checks in at 57.
