3. The Sooners' baseball series victory at Texas A&M—Just when OU needed it most, they got it, a series victory, and on the road. It was the first Big 12 series win for the Sooners away from Norman since they defeated the Nebraska Cornhuskers in Lincoln a month ago. And they didn't do it the easy way. After falling in the first game 6-2, OU trailed 5-3 in the ninth inning before getting a clutch hit to tie it up and ultimately win in extra innings. They then completed the series win by topping the Aggies 10-2 in the rubber game.
2. OU's snagged a few key hoops recruits—First, the Sooners signed Nick Thompson, a 6-foot-9, 210 lb. forward from the College of Eastern Utah. Thompson averaged 8.6 points, 4.4 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game this past season. Then, two days ago OU picked up a solid point guard in 6-foot-2, 205 lb. Carl Blair from the University of New Orleans as well as 6-foot-7, 210 lb. forward C.J. Washington from Connors State. Blair averaged 9.2 points, 4.4 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game, while Washington racked up 19.3 points, a school-record 13.0 rebounds and 1.8 blocks per game in 2009-10.
1. The Sooners owned the 2010 NFL Draft, especially the first round—Of course this had to be the No. 1 event this week when quarterback Sam Bradford went No. 1 to the St. Louis Rams, defensive tackle Gerald McCoy was drafted No. 3 by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, offensive tackle Trent Williams went fourth to the Washington Redskins and tight end Jermaine Gresham saw his destination of the Cincinnati Bengals come up with the 21st pick in the first round. After that, three other Sooners were drafted, including linebacker Keenan Clayton (fourth round, 23rd pick, 121st overall), cornerback Dominique Franks (fifth round, fourth pick, 135th overall) and tight end Brody Eldridge (fifth round, 31st pick, 162nd overall).
