Dionnah Jackson scored 21 points and Chelsi Welch chipped in 15, but it wasn't enough to keep Texas from winning a share of the Big 12 regular season championship with a 78-66 win over the Sooners Wednesday night in Austin.
The Sooners, who trailed by nine points twice in the first half, cut Texas' lead to 33-31 at halftime and took a 50-49 lead on a Jackson layup with 12 minutes to play. The Longhorns then scored four straight, but Jackson tied the game at 53 with a three-point play.
But from that point on it was all Texas. Heather Schreiber scored five straight points and the Horns never looked back. Stacy Stephens led the Horns with 28 points.
With the loss, Oklahoma finishes 9-7 in league play and will be the fifth seed in the Big 12 Tournament, which starts next Tuesday in Dallas. The Sooners will play either Nebraska or Kansas in the first round.
