AD Look Back: Part IV

Here's a look inside the fourth historic moment of former OU running back Adrian Peterson's career that Sooners Illustrated provides for you this week.

The year: 2006

The game: vs. Iowa State, Oct. 14, 2006

The situation: 6:40 remaining in OU's contest as it tried to move its record to 4-2 on the year coming off a 28-10 loss to Texas

The outcome: Peterson scampered for a 53-yard touchdown run, but this one will be remembered not because it was an incredible run, but for what took place at the end of the play. Sooner faithful will always recall that dive as Peterson leaped over the goal line and ultimately broke his collarbone, sidelining him for the rest of the regular season and the Big 12 Championship. In total, he missed seven games because of the injury. As for that contest against Iowa State, it was his last carry in what became a 183-yard, two-touchdown performance for Peterson.
