Blake Griffin Returns to OU for Fantasy Camp

OU head coach Jeff Capel and the Sooners just recently completed their first ever Fantasy Camp, and former star forward Blake Griffin was here to coach one of the four teams. Sooners Illustrated caught up with him to ask him about the camp as well as how things are going with him.

Here's a few things that came up in the conversation:

On the Sooner program doing something like this—Coach Capel has always talked about, you know, really this being a place where guys can come back and welcome back the greats that have been here in the past, guys like Alvan [Adams] and all these other guys, so I mean, you know, I think it's awesome for me. It's great to have this many guys coming back to do something like this.

On if it's nice to come home—Oh yeah, definitely. Seeing my parents [is nice]. You know, just coming back to visit people [is good]. I don't get a chance to get back here a lot, so it's kind of a kill two birds with one stone type of deal.

On the Subway commercial and not being on "full time"— I don't know. They cut me off. I guess I don't speak very well. I guess I don't speak well enough to be on their full time. They don't like me I guess. That's all right.

[Cade Davis] hasn't asked me about [getting free food], but now that you said it, I'm sure he will. I'm sure he will.

On looking to get back on the court after being hurt—Definitely. You know, sitting out makes you appreciate it a lot more. Being able to watch up close and personal, I think, was good for me. I'm definitely excited.

On Willie coming over to the Clippers—It's going to be good. It's going to be fun. I think, you know, he's healing up from his ankle surgery, so I think once he gets back on track, back to how he's doing, he'll be good for us.
