Ranking the Most Important on Defense: No. 22

Sooners Illustrated previously provided the most important on the current offensive depth chart, and now it's time for that on the defensive side of the ball.

No. 22:

Player: Daniel Franklin

Position: Backup middle linebacker

The rundown: The 6-foot-2, 219 pounder doesn't bring a whole lot of experience to the table even in a backup role, as he participated in only six games last year in a reserve spot. But he does carry a solid work ethic and knowledge of the game with him. Franklin came out of high school as the No. 17 weak side defensive end in the nation before redshirting in 2008 and serving as a backup linebacker in 2009.

Expectations for 2010: The outlook here is pretty simple. He will see only limited action playing behind middle linebacker Tom Wort. But every bit of experience could be pivotal if injuries become a plague with this group.
