Ranking the Most Important on Defense: No. 19

Read the analysis on Sooners Illustrated's next member of the countdown.

No. 19:

Player: David King

Position: Backup defensive end

The rundown: King's a guy who came out of high school as the No. 11 national defensive end before redshirting his first season in 2008. Last year he got on the field in four games, getting into the stat book in a couple, as he broke up a pass in a home contest against the Texas A&M Aggies and had an unassisted tackle in OU's 31-27 Sun Bowl win.

Expectations for 2010: Behind Preseason All-Big 12 defensive lineman Jeremy Beal and with Frank Alexander on the other side at defensive end, he will have to fight for playing time. But at 6-foot-5, 258 lb., he's got the will power to fight and make this defensive line unit really dominate even in midst of the loss of defensive tackle Gerald McCoy to the NFL.
