Ranking the Most Important on Defense: No. 16

Sooners Illustrated completes the first week of the defensive countdown with today's part, so come on in for the analysis of this spot.

No. 16:

Player: Jamell Fleming

Position: Backup boundary corner

The rundown: Fleming hasn't been a starter so far throughout his career, as he redshirted in 2007 and worked as a reserve defensive back during the 2008 and 2009 seasons. But he's quick, awful talented and has come of age behind some good corners at OU in his first three years.

Expectations for 2010: He'll see a lot of action on the special teams group, where he has been a mainstay for the past two seasons. In fact, Fleming led the club with 18 tackles on the special teams group in '08 and finished second on the team last year with nine. So he'll participate in every game at that spot will also work behind Jonathan Nelson at the boundary corner position.
