Big 12 Preview: Ere might play against Colorado

Sources out of Dallas say Ebi Ere, who broke a bone in his left wrist on Tuesday, could play in Friday night's quarterfinal against Colorado. Ere (pictured let) scored a game-high 20 points in the Sooners' 69-54 win over Colorado on January 11. Tip-off for Friday night's quarterfinal matchup against the Buffaloes is set for 8:30 p.m.

DALLAS, Texas — Oklahoma (21-6) will begin their quest for a third straight Big 12 Conference Tournament title Friday night against Colorado (20-10). But the big question on everyone's mind is whether or not senior guard Ebi Ere will be along for the ride?

Ere, who was listed as questionable for Friday's quarterfinal on Wednesday after breaking a bone in his left wrist, reportedly will play against the Buffaloes and wear a soft cast. Jon Sunvold, a color commentator for ESPN, confirmed Ere's status during Thursday night's Colorado-Kansas State telecast.

The Buffaloes advanced to Friday night's quarterfinal matchup with the Sooners with a thrilling 77-76 first round win over Kansas State late Thursday night. Colorado point guard James 'Mookie' Wright hit a three-pointer at the buzzer to win it for the 'Buffs.

Oklahoma won the first meeting this season, 69-54, on January 11 in Norman. Ere led the Sooners with 20 points while Hollis Price added 19.

Oklahoma, who has won three straight against Colorado, holds an 82-45 series edge all-time against the Buffaloes. The Sooners have also won their last six conference tournament games and are 2-0 at the American Airlines Center in Dallas.
