Ranking the Most Important on Defense: No. 13

Sooners Illustrated brings the latest part to the defensive countdown inside.

No. 13:

Player: Marcus Trice

Position: Backup free safety

The rundown: Trice, a 5-foot-8, 186 lb. safety from Mesquite, Texas, came in and played in all 13 games as a true freshman last year. He recorded three tackles, one of which was unassisted, and blocked a punt in the Sooners' second game of the season against Idaho State.

Expectations for 2010: He's a guy that could really impact the Sooners in the special teams department as well as in a reserve position behind starter Quinton Carter. Trice is quick, has good ball skills and really brings an edge as a defensive back. Expect him to see playing time in all of OU's contests--he won't start--but he'll be important to this group.
