Backcourt duo leads Oklahoma into semi-finals

DALLAS, Texas — Oklahoma began than their quest for a third straight Big 12 conference tournament title on Friday with a 74-59 win over Colorado.

Hollis Price and Quannas White led the Sooners, who have now won seven straight conference tournament games, with 19 points each.

"We played a much better team tonight," said Colorado Head Coach Ricardo Patton. "They're a better team than us and that's just the bottom line. That team there, they had the look of a a team that's been to the Final Four."

Oklahoma led by as many as fourteen points in the second half, but the Buffaloes cut the lead to five at 56-51 with ten minutes to go. The Sooners then went on a 9-0 run, capped by a Quannas White three with 5:34 left to take control of the game for good. White was 5-for-6 from three-point range.

"We determined we had to pick it up defensively," said Price on stopping Colorado's second half fun. "We slowed down a little bit and they cut the lead down so I just told everybody we needed to pick it up defensively."

"We kept cutting into the lead," said Patton. "I know we cut it to five or sixt late in the game. We had our chances and didn't make free throws."

Oklahoma now advances to Saturday's semi-final against seventh-seeded Texas Tech. The Red Raiders upset Texas, 92-81, on Friday. Oklahoma swept the first two games against the Red Raiders this season. The Sooners won the first game in Norman, 69-64 in overtime, and beat Tech in Lubbock, 63-58.

"They (Tech) thought they should have won a game in Norman but I think we did a good job of going down to Lubbock and picking up a win," said Price on this seasons' games against Tech. "It's always going to be a battle with them and we just need to come out with defensive intensity."
