Sooner Schedule Prediction

What will OU's record be in 2010, and what bowl game will the Sooners go to? Sooners Illustrated provides a prediction here.

Date: Sept. 4

Game: vs. Utah State

Prediction: The Sooners run and throw all over the Utah State defense, and although the Aggies do manage to avoid the shutout, OU wins it big. Final Score: OU 47, Utah State 6

Record: 1-0 (0-0 Big 12)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Date: Sept. 11

Game: vs. No. 20 Florida State

Prediction: OU's first tough test comes in the second week of the season, as the now Bobby Bowden-less Seminoles come to town. But the Sooner defense steps up and anchors the squad to a big non-conference win, holding off FSU quarterback Christian Ponder and the rest of the Seminole offense just enough. Final Score: OU 27, Florida State 17

Record: 2-0 (0-0 Big 12)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Date: Sept. 18

Game: vs. Air Force

Prediction: It's another lopsided victory, but not quite as ugly as the first game, as the Sooners easily take care of the Falcons. Final Score: OU 40, Air Force, 13

Record: 3-0 (0-0 Big 12)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Date: Sept. 25

Game: @ Cincinnati

Prediction: The first road game of the year is a tough one against a Bearcats team that played in a BCS Bowl last season. But similar to FSU, they've lost their head coach in Brian Kelly, who left for Notre Dame, and Cincy just doesn't quite have enough in their tank to pull off an upset. Final Score: OU 24, Cincinnati 21

Record: 4-0 (0-0 Big 12)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Date: Oct. 2

Game: vs. No. 4 Texas in Dallas

Prediction: Sam Bradford vs. Colt McCoy has turned into Landry Jones vs. Garrett Gilbert, and like the first match between the previous two, the first match between the next two goes the way of the Sooners as well. OU finally brings the Golden Hat back to Norman after losing three of the last four. Final Score: OU 21, Texas 17

Record: 5-0 (1-0 Big 12)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Date: Oct. 16

Game: vs. Iowa State

Prediction: This one's not nearly as close as the previous meeting between the two back in 2007 when OU escaped Ames with a 10-point victory. OU rolls in front of its home crowd. Final Score: OU 38, Iowa State 10

Record: 6-0 (2-0 Big 12)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Date: Oct. 23

Game: @ Missouri

Prediction: One of the scariest games on the schedule comes with this match-up, as Blake Gabbert and the Mizzou Tigers put a real scare into the Sooners in Columbia. OU's perfect season, though, stays in tact behind yet another solid defensive showing and poised play from Jones at the end. Final Score: OU 28, Missouri 24

Record: 7-0 (3-0 Big 12)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Date: Oct. 30

Game: vs. Colorado

Prediction: Don't expect a nail biter here because it won't be happening. CU coach Dan Hawkins gets enough of Norman after getting blasted by the Sooners. Final Score: OU 45, Colorado, 13

Record: 8-0 (4-0 Big 12)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Date: Nov. 6

Game: @ Texas A&M

Prediction: What most people project as the toughest road game of the season takes place when Texas A&M quarterback Jerrod Johnson and the Aggies play host to OU in early November. The Aggies hang right with the Sooners and, in fact, lead in the fourth quarter before OU squeaks yet another one out to remain unbeaten. Final Score: OU 35, Texas A&M 31

Record: 9-0 (5-0 Big 12)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Date: Nov. 13

Game: vs. Texas Tech

Prediction: The Sooners run the streak to seven straight years the home team has won this matchup, and much like the hyped game between No. 2 Texas Tech and No. 5 OU back in 2008, it's not even close. OU gets revenge for getting smashed in 2009. Final Score: OU 38, Texas Tech 13

Record: 10-0 (6-0 Big 12)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Date: Nov. 20

Game: @ Baylor

Prediction: A lot of people might overlook this one, but look at for quarterback Robert Griffin and the Baylor Bears. It will be close at halftime. However, OU opens it up for a double-digit win in the second half. Final Score: OU 41, Baylor 20

Record: 11-0 (7-0 Big 12)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Date: Nov. 27

Game: @ Oklahoma State

Prediction: It could be the first time since 2002 that the Sooners lose to their Bedlam foe. But it's not. OU wins yet another contest between the two, completing a perfect regular season. Final Score: OU 34, Oklahoma State 24

Record: 12-0 (8-0 Big 12)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Date: Dec. 4

Game: Big 12 Championship vs. Nebraska in Arlington

Prediction: In Nebraska's final year in the Big 12, a face-off between these two old time rivals will be the talk of the conference from day one. And in the end, that's exactly what will happen, with OU getting the best of the Huskers in a close battle between a pair of Top 10 teams fighting for a berth in the BCS and BCS National Championship. Final Score: OU 20, Nebraska 17

Record: 13-0 (8-0 Big 12)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Date: Jan. 10

Game: BCS National Championship vs. Alabama in Glendale, Ariz.

Prediction: Everything's falling together just like the 2000 season. OU, again with a quarterback starting in his second year, comes off a five-loss season, makes it through the entire portion of their regular season schedule undefeated, wins the Big 12 Championship and is set to face off against a team attempting to repeat for the National Championship. Only this time it's Alabama and not Florida State. The Sooners finally get over the hump by doing what they haven't been able to do in two of their last three national championship appearances, defeat an SEC team. And they do it behind championship caliber defense and the offensive leadership of Jones, slot receiver Ryan Broyles and running back DeMarco Murray. Final Score: OU 27, Alabama 24

Record: 14-0 (8-0 Big 12)
