Fullerton (CA) CC Defensive Back Aaron Garbutt had nothing but good things to say about Ole Miss after his official visit this weekend.
"I couldn't have asked for a better time. Everything was perfect. It was great, awesome really," said the 6-2, 210-pounder with reported 4.5 speed and the ability to play either cornerback or safety on the next level.
"Ole Miss is number one right now, for sure, but I do have two more visits - Washington and SMU - I have committed to take. I will go to Washington next Friday. I have not set my SMU visit yet."
When asked what he enjoyed about Ole Miss specifically, Garbutt couldn't contain his excitement.
"Man, everything. Literally everything. The campus, the people, the facilities, the coaches, the players I got to meet, the food - I loved it all," Garbutt, a preseason JC Grid_Wire All-American and 1st Team All-Cally DB in 2010, stated enthusiastically. "I saw no drawbacks.
"Even the distance from home doesn't bother me. I have always been a traveler. I'm very independent and I consider myself a rolling stone to some extent."
Aaron knows he would fit in nicely at Ole Miss.
"It's a family environment. The players are tight. I was hosted by LB Joel Kight and he and I hit it off real well. He's my age and he's so mature," Aaron noted. "You can tell the players and coaches have a really good relationship and it's a true team at Ole Miss, which is what I am looking for."
Garbutt was approached by the coaches about playing cornerback at Ole Miss.
"I would love that challenge. Ole Miss needs corners. I love that position. Some people have told me I am too big for corner, but I disagree. I think my size is an advantage. It allows me to be very physical and dominant from that position," he continued.
Garbutt, as he said, will make up his mind after he takes all his visits, but if first impressions mean anything, he very well could be a Rebel in 2011.
