Proximity Matters

LA Harbor Running Back John White wishes Ole Miss was a little closer to home. Since it's not, he's likely to stick with his commitment to Utah, but the Rebels did make him think twice. Read about it inside.

LA Harbor CC Running Back John White, a 5-9, 185-pound speedster who gained 1,500 yards and scored 16 TDs last year, liked what he saw on his official visit to Ole Miss over the weekend, but. . .

"Everything was really nice. Ole Miss has a lot to offer. It's a place where a student and a football player can really evolve into a well-rounded person, but I am not going to lie - the distance from home is a factor with me," said White.

As a result of the distance, and the desire for his family to see him play, John said he would most likely stick with his commitment to Utah.

"Ole Miss gave me a lot to think about on my visit and it's nice to have that option, but I think I will probably stay with Utah because I had a nice visit there as well and because it's closer to my home," he stated.

White will make his final decision in the next couple of days and will sign on Wednesday, the first day of the JUCO signing period.

"Because of my family, my heart is telling me to sign with Utah, but Ole Miss is a great place. I could fit in real well in Oxford and at Ole Miss," he closed.

Is White leaving the door open? Maybe, but just a crack.
