Bjork Gets AD Nod

The road has been long and tedious, with many twists and turns, but finally it appears the dust is settling on the athletics director search and the winner of the Ole Miss AD sweepstakes is Ross Bjork.

Western Kentucky Athletics Director Ross Bjork flew under the radar in the search for an Ole Miss athletics director for a long time.

In fact, his name didn't even surface until Sunday of this week, and then only in a snippet.

Apparently, however, Bjork made a lasting impression on the selection committee, co-chaired by Mike Glenn and Archie Manning, and Ole Miss Chancellor Dan Jones, who made the final decision based on the committee's recommendation of Bjork.

While nothing is official at this writing, the news on Bjork's selection has leaked from many reliable sources.

Bjork, 39, has 19 years of collegiate athletics administrative experience, working his way up from an athletic department volunteer in 1995-96 at Western Illinois to Senior Associate AD at UCLA from 2005-2010 before taking over the top reins at WKU on March 12 of 2010.

His stints also include a six-year tenure at Missouri as the Athletic Development Officer and two years at Miami at the Assistant Athletic Director for External Operations.

At WKU, Bjork has established, in his short stay, a record of success both athletically and academically.

While the search for the new AD has been tight-lipped, the other prominent candidates for the Rebel post were Central Arkansas AD Brad Teague, Under Armour Executive Walker Jones and UMAA Foundation Executive Director Danny White.

An official announcement is forthcoming, reportedly in the next 48 hours.
