Signees To Report

There's still some scrambling going on with late graduation, transcripts, etc - normal fare for incoming freshmen - but at this point, it looks as if 15 football signees will enroll for first semester summer school next week.

Fourteen football signees - and maybe one or two more - are slated to start arriving on campus next week (some will come as early as Monday) for the first semester of summer school.

"Our signees took care of their business, for the most part, and the coaches did a great job getting most of our guys in here early," said an elated Coach Hugh Freeze.

Remember, fivesignees - DT Lavon Hooks, CB Nick Brassell, TE Christian Morgan, RB Mark Dodson and WR Quadarias Mireles - enrolled for the spring semester. All five will be here this week, bringing the total of "newcomers" in school for first semester of summer school to 20 out of the 27 signed.

"There are a lot of moving parts in getting a student-athlete in this quickly after they graduate from high school," said Freeze. "We're pleased with how the process has gone so far.

"(LB) Marcus Robinson will go the JUCO route and a couple (WR Quincy Adeboyejo and RB Eugene Brazley) have late graduations, so there was nothing we could do about those. There are still things to sort out on the others, but we have a plan and are confident in the plan we have."

The "fresh" group that will arrive this week includes the nation's number one recruit, DE Robert Nkemdiche, and 5-star WR Laquon Treadwell.

As of this writing, there was no final word on the nation's number one OL, Laremy Tunsil, but there is a chance he will be cleared for first semester summer school. If not, he will come in for the second semester of summer school.

Even though when Tunsil will arrive is still in the air, the other OL signees - Austin Golson, Daronte Bouldin and Davion Johnson - will report next week.

A quartet of 4-star players will also arrive early - QB Devante Kincade, QB Ryan Buchanan, RB Jordan Wilkins and RB Kailo Moore.

Others penciled in to report next week are OLB Rashawn Smith, WR Trey Bledsoe, CB Bobby Hill, TE Evan Engram and DT Herbert Moore.

Five-star S Antonio Conner, CB David Kamara, TE A.J. Jackson and WR Derrick Jones are the only ones remaining and are the signees Freeze referenced who are following an academic plan for eligibility.

Updated Monday:

Laremy Tunsil is now expected to report to Ole Miss before Wednesday. This brings the 2013 class to 20 of the 27 signees on campus for the first summer session.
