The 6-foot, 200-pound Dickens is rated the No. 62 outside linebacker in the country and a three-star prospect by Scout.com. He becomes the 14th commitment for the class of 2014.

Dickens participated in a 7-on-7 camp at Mississippi State on Friday. He said the Bulldogs, as well as Memphis and Georgia, were involved in his recruitment prior to shutting it down with his pledge to Ole Miss.

"It feels real good to get it over with," he said. "The atmosphere around Ole Miss, it just felt right.

"(Ole Miss head) Coach (Hugh) Freeze, he's a Mississippi guy. He understands how we feel about the state of Mississippi. We want to put Mississippi on the map. That's what we're all about, and I'm down for it."

Dickens made his decision in a one-on-one meeting with Freeze, who is entering his second year as Ole Miss head coach, following passing camp. The meeting all but sold Dickens on the Rebels.

"It was a deciding factor," Dickens said. "You know, being around Coach Freeze one-on-one alone. I told him I committed, and he just showed me so much love. They were very happy for me, very excited for me."

Saturday was an important day of evaluation for Dickens. Freeze and staff were able to evaluate him in person. His stock, per sources, soared with an impressive performance.

"I worked out (Saturday), and they evaluated me," Dickens said. "They said I did real good. They like me at linebacker, but I'll do whatever to help the team win."

Along with the four schools mentioned previously, Dickens received interest from Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn and LSU. He collected 132 tackles, nine tackles for loss and four passes defended last season. On offense, he totaled over 400 yards and four touchdowns, while scoring twice on kickoff returns.
