Evans Has Two

It's been almost a month since three-star defensive end Victor Evans announced a final two of Texas and Ole Miss.

And in a month's time, nothing has changed. He is hearing from a bevy of schools, sure, but the Longhorns and Rebels have his full attention. He arrived in Oxford, Miss., Friday for Ole Miss senior camp.

"Right now, it's Texas, Ole Miss, Kansas State, Iowa and Michigan. Michigan State's on me a little bit, but right now it's either Texas or Ole Miss," he said of his recruitment.

The 6-foot-3, 223-pound Evans, who is a member of the recruiting class of 2014, is rated the No. 54 defensive end in the country by Scout.com. He said he would like to make a decision "in a couple of weeks," and he has a good idea of what he is looking for when deciding on a school.

"First off, academic prestige - a place where I can learn and get my education," he said. "And a place where I fit in into the scheme, where I can fit in and play as a young kid. I don't want wait too long to play."

Ole Miss has long had interest in Evans, a product of powerhouse Skyline High School in Dallas, Texas.

Not only is he being recruited alongside his teammate Ty Barrett, a four-star offensive lineman, but his former teammate, quarterback Devante Kincade, signed with the Rebels in February.

"Ole Miss, I know they're on the rise of being a real good program," Evans said. "I've been knowing (Ole Miss defensive line) Coach (Chris) Kiffin. I used to keep up with Coach Kiffin when I was a freshman. He was one of the first coaches that came out to me. I know they're a team on the rise."

As for his visit, his first to Ole Miss, Evans said he is eager to see how the Ole Miss coaching staff interacts with the players.

"I'm trying to see how the coaches coach," he said. "I like coaches that get at it with the players. I just want to see how they coach and their style of coaching."
