Recruiting Competition: The battle for the Moore twins was basically over before it started between Ole Miss, Mississippi State and Southern Mississippi. A.J. and twin Calvin both committed to Ole Miss on June 7, 2013, and held firm the whole way. There were some MSU rumblings late, but it was more a last-ditch effort by the Bulldogs than anything the Moore's took seriously.
Quotable: "The Grove, man, is fantastic! The fans. It was crazy out there in the Grove. The Walk of Champions. I'm ready to experience that and just watching Ole Miss go to battle has been all I needed to know to see where I wanted to go."
Scouting Report: Playing in a smaller division of high school football can sometimes lead to a prospect flying under the radar. The Ole Miss coaches didn't care if A.J. played six-man flag football in Idaho after seeing his skill set in summer camps last year. He was an instant offer because of speed, agility, tenacity and coachability. 4.3 guys don't come along every day, especially in the 200-pound variety.
Bassfield Coach Lance Mancuso: "A.J. is the kind of player every Division-I coach in America is looking for. He's the total package - strength, character, work ethic, quickness, speed, physical nature, smart, coachable. . . what else is there?"
Coach Hugh Freeze Quote: "A.J. is a gifted athlete who has outstanding character and is a really hard worker. He and C.J. were leaders of that Bassfield championship, undefeated team. A.J. loves Ole Miss and will give us everything he's got to help our team. Instantly, he brings more speed to our linebacker slots. We're talking about a 200-pound youngster with legitimate 4.4 speed. You can never have too much speed."
