Once again it was the Rebel offense that was explosive, at least after a slow start. Ole Miss had 16 hits including a 4-for-5 night for Braxton Lee.

Tuesday night in a 9-1 win at Memphis, the Rebels had 14 hits.

Ole Miss is now 27-8 on the season, while Murray State fell to 14-16. The Rebels are at Mississippi State for three Southeastern conference games this weekend.

Quoting The Rebels

* Catcher Austin Knight, who was 3-for-4 against the Thoroughbreds: "We wanted to finish the midweek off well going into Mississippi State. We wanted some momentum going in there. Tonight I was happy to get the opportunity to play, especially with Wlll (Allen) playing as well as he has been. I want to get out there and swing the bat when I get out there."

* Braxton Lee on his offensive night: "Mainly it was my approach. I didn't have a very good BP. I was trying to yank everything and hit a home run. That's not really me. In the game I just tried to let the ball get into the middle out and tried to go away with the pitch."

* Bianco on the game: "I thought then whole game was there in the fourth where they scored three and we answer six. Several guys with multiple hits. Just a big night for several people."

* Bianco on the Rebels winning the last six games: "In the one week (with four straight losses), we had trouble putting hits together, closing out games, doing a lot of things. This offense has been good throughout the season. We've been able to do a lot of different things, and you saw that tonight. Stolen bases, something we can make happen. A hit and run tonight by Austin Knight was big. Lot of good things."

The Game

After allowing two walks to start the fourth inning, Rebel starter Evan Anderson was pulled and Matt Denny entered. Denny was able to finish the inning, but not before the Thoroughbreds led 3-0.

But in the bottom of the fourth, the Rebels answered and more. Brantley Bell singled to score Will Allen who had doubled. After Sikes Orvis doubled, John Gatlin reached on a fielder's choice to score Bell and trim the MSU lead to 3-2. Gatlin eventually scored on a fielding error by the Thoroughbreds.

Auston Bousfield bunted successfully to score Austin Knight who had reached on a base hit. Austin Anderson singled to score both Bousfield and Lee.

It was 6-3 Ole Miss at that point. Ole Miss extended the advantage to 7-3 with a Lee single that scored J.B. Woodman who had doubled. That was in the sixth.

Although MSU got it to within 7-5 in the seventh, they couldn't close the gap any further.

Matt Denny, one of seven Ole Miss pitchers in the contest, got the win and is now 1-1.
