Recruiting Competition: Terry had solid options, including Texas A&M, TCU, East Carolina and Houston, but he wants to play in the best conference in America. He got his wish.
Caldwell: “Coach Freeze came to see me and spoke for a good while. I told him the things I wanted to accomplish. Coach Freeze said he was impressed with my character and athleticism and said he thought I would be beneficial for his program. We just kind of hit it off. I was keeping my fingers crossed they would have a spot for me. I just wanted to be a part of the Ole Miss program because I loved how they played defense, and I love their core values. I am a big believer in Christ too. It was just a perfect fit for me. I liked what they did this year on defense. They play fast with great intensity and like a family. I also loved the electric atmosphere they had at the games I went to this fall. It’s a blessing."
Scouting Report: The first thing that jumps out at you about Caldwell is how active he is. He is a sideline-to-sideline player with good movement and ferocity. As one Ole Miss coach said, “he’s a bigger version of Keith Lewis.” Good enough.
Coach Hugh Freeze Quote: “I think we were lucky with Terry. He kind of flew under our radar for a while, but then when we got to know him better and watch him play more, we knew he fit what we want and what we need – an active linebacker who can cover ground and is aggressive.”
